If the daughter's father is Vaike, the daughter can become a Mercenary. If a daughter's father is a male main character, Gaius, or Donnel, the daughter can become a Pegasus Knight.
Therefore, skill acquisition in the parents can continue after the "S" rank has been acheived as long as the paralogue has not been completed. Skills are passed on to the child when the paralogue chapter is started, not when it appears on the map. You could also potentially pass "Astra" to a Taguel, both "Sol" and "Luna" to a Knight, or even "Lethality" to a Priest. For instance, if the mother can become a Dark Flier, you should pass the Dark Flier's Lv15 skill "Galeforce" along. This allows for some creative customization by the player.
